Vegan Raw – Day 6

Posted on January 7, 2010

zmoothieTomorrow it will be one week I have been eating completely vegan and completely raw.  It has been rough. Really rough.  I have detoxed from coffee and sugar before in the past, but never at the same time and without the comfort of “regular” food.

Day 1 started off fairly easy.  I was excited about this journey and it was all new and shiny. “Oooooh look at me, I’m vegan raw! Aren’t I cool?!”

Day 2 the headaches began but I was still in excitement mode.

Day 3 I still had a headache and was really missing my huge mug of hot coffee in the a.m.

Day 4 Not feeling well at all. My body was achy, I had a runny nose, and I was cold.  That night I kept waking up every few hours.

Day 5 Came uber grumpiness. Boy was I pissy! Where the frick is my frickin coffee dang it?!! and my Twizzlers??!!

Day 6 Finally an ok day. No headache, no aches, and my first day I didn’t miss coffee.

Pretty amazing that caffeine & sugar have had such a hold on my body that it has been physically sick for the last week!

So, now on to days 7-30!  I have come across so many great recipes that I have been wanting to try and would really spice things up. The problem is that I’m lazy, I don’t really like to cook. Yes, I know there should be no cooking involved in raw, but there are other cooking-like things such as dehydrating, sprouting, juicing, and spiraling (ok, this is probably not the name for it, but it a little machine that spirals the zucchini out like pasta).  So as someone that typically eats tuna out of the can, I have no desire to start getting creative in the kitchen now.   Which leaves me with my smoothies (I do blenders), salads, nuts, oats, fruit, veggies & hemp protein powder.  Let’s hope I get inspired by the time the 30 days is up!

How are all of YOU doing #30daysveganraw crew?

  2. It’s so great to see you doing this raw challenge & this series on your blog! :)

And, I’ve been thinking of doing a raw challenge soon … because I’ve got such great results from being (mostly) vegetarian, I wonder what would happen raw. But really, it’s the detox period that’s holding me back right now!!

I’m doing okay – not as well as you, though! I have had coffee three times, I couldn’t cold-turkey it this time. I’m taking the coffee day by day. And, oh, whoops. Still drinking a cup of tea before bed. Green smoothie every morning, big salad at lunch and something raw for dinner that’s a little more “creative” – also eating TONS of fruit.

Fitarella, good for you, going raw can be difficult but very rewarding to your Health. Br kind to yourself and just take it one day at a time. If you fall off the wagon, don’t sweat it, just start again!

    Blessings and Peace,

Good for you! Been wondering how it’s going. Have been busy w/ work and not keeping up w/ everyone very much. You have my admiration for doing something I don’t think I could do. I do eat a lot of raw foods throughout the day but I don’t think I could go without cooking entirely – I love cooking too much! Keep going and stay strong. Hopefully the worst is over. Wishing you continued success.

Wow, I can’t believe (well, I guess I can) that you went through actual withdrawals! Hope it keeps getting better and better for you. Next week you might find yourself glowing! Your raw vegan way of eating is very inspirational. And also hope your little one is loving her new way of eating too :-) Hugs!

But you were/are doing lower sugar nutrition for your daughter, right? (per a past post which was awesome!) Yea, my family wouldn’t go for the raw either. Snacks yes, main meals no way in hell … LOL
