Totally random BlogHer’10 pics & thoughts

It wasn’t until I checked in that I realized how big this conference really was.  In my mind’s eye I had pictured checking in at a single “check in table”, but as you can see below it was like checking in at a marathon event!  Holy moly,  BlogHer’10 was massive!

At the Unilever event at the posh Royalton Hotel Penthouse I got a custom blended Vaseline lip gloss made.  Ya’ll know how much I *LOVE* lip gloss, so this was definitely a highlight for me.  I’m all about the glossy lips!

In another suite down the hall ladies were able to get their hair did by the pros with the new Suave professional line.  I opted for the reflexology (foot massage) instead.  My feet thanked me.

This was so funny. Slim-Fast had a stage set up in a suite where you got up and told your craziest diet stories.  As you can imagine, I have MILLIONS of stories!  I was told that I won the “most bizarre” diet story category with my Hamburger meat & water diet and my Eggo Waffle & Hot Dog diet.  Yes, I really did them and NO they do NOT work.

Ahhh, my necklace. How cute is that!
I got it because whenever I attend a conference, no one seems to know who the heck “Jacqueline” is when I introduce myself, they know “Fitarella.”  Which is totally fine. It’s a great excuse to buy some bling! I LOOOVE me some bling!  Want one? Check ‘em out at Survival of the Hippest. Tell ‘em Fitty sent you!

This lovely lady is Sagan from Living Healthy in the Real World, she is even more adorable in real life than she is online.  I wanted to put her in my pocket and take her everywhere with me.

Of course, I attended the fitness blogging panel with @RoniNoone, Sahar from @FatfighterTV and @DebRoby. The fitness panel was up against the Monetization panel…not exactly a fair fight for panel attendees!

Dora and I hung out at the expo, and that girl knows how to PARTAAAAY hard core! After that I hung with My Little Pony too.

Do you know @SugarJones and Sara, @thefootballwife ? Fabulous, Fun & CRAZY! LOVE them!
This was taken at the OpenSky Party, where I got a wee-bit tipsy.  I will not confirm or deny anything you’ve heard about that night.

And of course, a HUGE thank you to my sponsor VeriPur

Yes, they are my sponsor, but I wouldn’t have agreed to work with them if I didn’t believe in the product (I’m funny like that)
We are BIG hand sanitizer users in our house, and here are the reasons why we love VeriPur:

- It’s a moisturizer too! Yes! a sanitizer AND moisturizer!

- It provides continues protection against germs for FOUR hours!

- No Alcohol!

- No Triclosan! (which the FDA is reviewing now as there are claims that is hazardous to health)

Wanna get some? At the end of September it will be available at buyveripur.com and then in drugstores in Spring 2011.

All in all, my experience at BlogHer’10 was a whirlwind. It was a massive event and I don’t think I got to fully experience it because there was just so much going on.  There are so many people that I wanted to connect with, but wasn’t able to.  (Btw, I am so HAPPY I got to spend lots of Time with Mara, she is so incredibly lovely and one of those people you just know you will be friends with for life.)  I’d like to say I’d come back again, but I’m not sure.  I think I really prefer smaller, more intimate events where I can connect to more people and fully experience most of the panels.  That is not a put down to BlogHer in any way, its just my personal preference.  But I am truly happy that I came and got to be in my home town of NYC, there is truly no better place on earth for me.

The last two months have been NUTS and I can’t believe Fall is already right around the corner! CRAZY!  Things are finally slowing down and I’m excited to get back to Fitarella and connecting with all of you.  I truly want to say THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart, for all of your support throughout the whole Oprah contest experience.  Words simply can not express how grateful I am for all of the love I received.

By now, most of you know that I ended up with over 9 million verified votes, making me the #1 vote getter for the online contest.  I was in shock when I found out. I mean, hard core jaw-to-the-floor shock. Who woulda thunk it?!  But this win wasn’t just my win, it was OUR win.  It was a strong statement that we want more than just salacious, violent or negative programming on television. We want real life stories of positivity, joy, triumph and inspiration. GO US!

So now, its back to life as usual, sans voting frenzy.  I know you’re all wondering about the contest and what’s next?  Well…you’ll just have to wait and see :)   I know, I know, its a sucky answer, but it’s the only one I’ve got for you right now.  In the mean time stay positive & stay tuned!

This weekend I will be attending my first BlogHer Conference and I am super excited!  BlogHer brings bloggers (mostly ladies) together from all over for rich discussions, learning, networking and opportunities to meet with brands.  And this year the conference is being held in my home town of New York City (WOOHOO!) so I get to connect with family & friends as well. PARRRRTAAAAAY!  I will be updating along the way with lots of tweets, posts and pics so be sure to check in!  Wait until you see the FABULOUS collection of heels I’m bringing! H-O-T! Yes, I know heels are not conducive to conference comfort, but I will not give up three things: heels, coffee, and lip gloss. So I will suffer in silence and bring lots of band-aids.
